Innovative and sustainable contemporary architecture

Roula Kotsilati is a RIBA Chartered Architect. She was selected as one of "the most promising and emerging design talents in Europe" in the European 40 under 40 Awards in 2016. She studied Architecture at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK (BA Arch, Honours) and South Bank University in London, UK acquiring PG Dip Arch (Honours). After finishing her studies she worked with Anamorphosis Architects and participated in International exhibitions and competitions including the 1st International Biennale of Architecture Rotterdam, the "Snow Show" International exhibition in Finland and the 50th International Venice Biennale. 

Roula Kotsilati Architecture was founded by Roula Kotsilati in 2004 with offices in Athens and in Berlin, providing outstanding works of architecture and interior design. Roula's work has international influences and focuses at the innovation of form and technology with highly crafted and detailed designs, always considering architecture on a spatial, social and ecological level. Light is the hallmark of her design approach, which certaily goes back to her Greek origin.

In 2013 her project with Vangelis Hatzis "Five Houses at Parnassus Mountain" was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2013 and presented at the 14th International Venice Biennale "Made in Europe" for the 25 years of the Mies van Der Rohe Awards. It has also been presented at the ‘’Energy Athens’’ Exhibition organized by the European Center for Architecture Art Design & Urban Studies in collaboration with Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. The same year the project was Shortlisted at the International Design Awards, MEA2013, and presented among 100 projects that received the highest score in the exhibition "Panorama of Greek Architecture" oganized by Domes International Review of Architecture. Jury members were Inaki Abalos (Harvard University), Alberto Ferlenga (IUAV of Venice) and Kenneth Frampton (Columbia University).

Roula's recent work includes the interiors for a luxurious private Wellness & Spa in Baku Azerbaijan in collaboration with BAUMAN.IG based in Berlin. Her work has been published in architectural books and magazines internationally.
